“This piece harkens back to my racing days when countless hours were spent on a small boat adjusting sails with a buoy in sight and competitors scattered across the water all jockeying for a breeze. When the winds were light, the smallest movements seemed to matter the most. How could I go faster? How could I round the mark first? Appearing in the distance across the still surface of the water was a ripple. That’s where I would go…to the patch of wind.”

The top right corner has a very faint lavender/lilac tone. Just below that, a warm ochre underpainting gently shines through the blue top layer like sun behind clouds.
